MKI announces new Client/Server
version of MIDAS/Q report writer

July 8th, 1998 --- Midas-Kapiti International (MKI) has announced the latest client/server version of Midas/Q, the flexible report writer installed at more than 350 financial institutions world-wide. The new version of Midas/Q, which is designed specifically to operate with Midas DBA, incorporates a unique PC-based report design tool designated Jacana.

Roger Hedges, Product Marketing Manager for MKI's Midas system, points out, "The new Midas/Q Client/Server, developed in partnership with Momentum Utilities, combines secure high-performance access to Midas data on the iSeries, with the new Windows-based Jacana report design tool. This provides an intuitive, user-friendly environment, which enables users to create reports quickly and easily, without requiring any technical knowledge of the database structure. Together, Midas/Q and Jacana leverage the best of both PC and iSeries platforms, while eliminating the need for SQL or ODBC drivers."

He goes on to say, "Midas is generally acknowledged to be the world's most widely-installed banking solution, with more than 70% of users also employing Midas/Q to support iSeries report production. As the world's premier supplier of international banking solutions, MKI works with selected third-party software vendors such as Momentum Utilities to source best-of-breed applications which complement Midas DBA."

Running on the iSeries server, Midas/Q addresses the critical issues of data security, performance and resource management. It also incorporates a powerful Knowledge Base, and interpretive layer which presents data as meaningful information and describes database fields in terms of business function. Jacana, now a fully integrated component of Midas/Q, focuses on report design and production, and enables iSeries reporting to be defined off-line in a familiar Windows environment. The first implementation of Midas/Q Client/Server is currently under way at a client site in Australia.
