Momentum announces the latest releases of
its Jacana, Valet, OPEN/DB report writer system
together with new products ValetMiner and
JacanaForms for the iSeries market.

June 18th, 1998 --- Momentum Utilities Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia announces and ships major new releases of its client-server report writer suite of applications – Jacana, Valet and OPEN/DB. At the same time, Momentum has rolled out additional new applications called ‘ValetMiner’ and ‘JacanaForms’, resulting from strategic marketing arrangements with Datawatch Corporation and Jetform Corporation, as integrated ‘plug ins’ to its reporting system.

Jacana Release 2.0, Valet Release 4.0 and OPEN/DB Release 7.0 all offer functional, ease of use and performance improvements over existing versions.

Two particularly important aspects are also addressed with these releases. Firstly, the client components of the report writer system, Jacana and Valet, are now able to connect to the iSeries via direct or native TCP/IP (in addition to Client Access and PC Support). Secondly, these releases provide the software platform for the two new applications ValetMiner (report mining) and JacanaForms (forms processing) incorporating unique areas of ‘value added’ integration.

Further Features include:

‘Multi-sheet’ processing allowing multiple output formats (which could be a mixture of hard copy reports or soft copy files for PC applications) with common sorting and selection criteria to be produced from a single pass of the data, thereby offering significant processing performance advantages.
Enhancements to OPEN/DB’s Information Interface capabilities including the ability to rename and copy a subset.
A variety of new macros, with particular focus on extending OS/400 data types handled and providing additional date handling to assist users with Year 2000 issues (for example, conversion of six (YYMMDD) digit dates to eight digit century dates and seven or eight digit century dates to print as six digits)
Use of Web technology for submission of report run requests and email as a delivery mechanism for delivery of report or PC file output.
